...</title><content type='html'>This is great stuff; I&amp;#39;ve shared it with my team.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Over the last two decades we have seen everything you describe. We have achieved significant success, but are also guilty of some of the errors listed. The constraints of donor projects and international health research funding are contributing factors. The health informatics community is making some headway in addressing this, but much remains to be done.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Regarding your first bullet: &amp;quot;Academic projects that collect data with preference towards information that will help to publish a paper rather than the information that will be the most actionable or help community health the most. The project rarely fits in with other technologies already deployed:&amp;quot; this in an issue we have noted and raised within the international health research community. We have approached it from both directions: health research and medical record systems. The first requires educating and lobbying investigators and grant funding sources. The second requires the foresight to develop routine health information systems that can support research protocols.
